


May’s Place in Tuam made the sudden announcement to social media that they would close for nearly a fortnight from Sunday 14 May. Meanwhile, another beloved shop is to "finally" close temporarily as the owners expressed their joy at being able to carry out long-awaited changes. Others added that Mary had "time for everyone". Many said they were "sad to see the shop go", adding that Mary was a "lovely lady" who gladly leant her support to any local charities, groups or clubs in need.

Kevin Joyce's Fashions sat in the heart of Headford for 45 years and locals added their tributes to Mary and the longstanding service the shop provided. Mary and Kevin Joyce opened the men's and women's fashion emporium in 1978 but sadly, Kevin died after an illness in 1980. Kevin Joyce Fashions served Headford and the surrounding areas for 45 years but the family has decided to take the sad decision to move on. One of the county's most recognisable and longstanding shops will close its doors for the last time soon.
